WHETHER DISCUSSING DEVIL’S ARITHMATIC or WONDERING ABOUT PERIODIC TABLES, ISRAEL and PALESTINE are FASCINATED BY NUMBERS AND COMPARISONS
I wrote this last winter or so. However, since I have observed how Israel keeps putting pressure on Palestinians not to take their just claims to the UN or to any world court, I thought this article needed to be republished.
Jane Yolen wrote a fictional work on the Holocaust some years ago. The book dealt with the numbers and statistics used by the Nazi’s (and their helpers from all over Europe) who came to see both their dehumanized Jewish and non-Jewish Untermenschen compatriots from across the continent as statistics to be calculated or canceled out.
That popular Jane Yolen fiction book was entitled The Devil’s Arithmetic and was made into a TV movie for Showtime.
Many modern youth who have read Yolen’s work have felt drawn into the haunting numbers game of Nazi’s—including tattooed numbers on people and trainloads of numbered, living, dead, and dying victims.

One real victim of the Holocaust was the author known by most readers as Primo Levi, a Holocaust survivor, poet and chemist—who had gone to Auschwitz and actually survived to tell his tale. (Levi was also known in some works by the pen name: Damiano Malabaila.)
Levi committed suicide many decades after the Holocaust, but he did not die a forgotten number.

Europeans are letting their future (care givers, etc.) drown at sea
In short, Europe is not being overrun to the extent that it has feared and “the Fortress Europe” mentality and Europe´s manner of kicking out refugees and would-be immigrants (or letting them drown at sea) is a poor way to proceed economically and social these days.
The crack down on foreigners in Germany in recent years has led to a decline in foreigners living within German borders for the first time in decades. It has also reduced the numbers of applicants to come to Germany significantly. (Meanwhile, in Greece, the largest concentration camps have been set up at the lowest possible standards. Greece has done this because Germany and other states are not helping it out and many immigrants now come through Turkey or across the Mediterranean to Athens.)

EUROPE CONTINUED TO PROMOTE DEREGULATION AT G-20 IN PITTSBURGH
Lori Wallach, the director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch division, stated in an interview that, in contrast to their own rhetoric, many of the EU states (and the EU itself) continue to promote the most extreme and de-regulating initiatives for financial services in the DOHA ROUND, even as they publically push for finance rules to primarily protect themselves at the G-20 Conference yesterday. Ms. Wallach noted at a DN interview Friday, “There’s an incredible contradiction, where the summit communiqué is going to, on one hand, talk about regulating finance, and at the same time, they’re going to talk about adopting the Doha WTO expansion, and a huge part of that agreement is deregulating finance.”
Civil Society is called to put pressure on EU and USA leaders now to change the WTO if Finance issues are to be seriously faced. Continue reading

5000 to 50000 new faces needed in the State department and USAID, according to REFUGEES INTERNATIONAL
According to REFUGEES INTERNATIONAL, the Imbalance in uSA´s penchant for the quick violent response has been very dangerous for U.S. Foreign Policy.
“The notion that American military power alone is enough to keep America secure has been completely discredited,” said Refugees International Peacekeeping Manager Ron Capps, and author of the new in-depth report, Drawing on the Full Strength of America: Seeking Greater Civilian Capacity in U.S. Foreign Affairs. “America’s foreign policy would be far more effective if the State Department and USAID received the resources they need to do their jobs,” he continued. The report offers suggestions on how to rebuild civilian capacities to effectively meet global challenges, including the challenge of displacement. Continue reading

The UN report came out on Israel and most European News sources Have Ignored it: WHY Not?
The finding of the UN report on Israel’s actions in December 2008 and 2009 came out this week. In it, Judge Richard Goldstone, stated, “We came to the conclusion, on the basis of the facts we found, that there is strong evidence to establish that numerous serious violations of international law, both humanitarian law and human rights law, were committed by Israel during the military operations in Gaza. The mission concluded that actions amounting to war crimes and possibly, in some respects, crimes against humanity were committed by the Israel Defense Force.”
Finkelstein and the Goldstone report shared, “One soldier after another, literally—I wish listeners would just bring up the report. It’s called “Breaking the Silence.” And then, under—enter under the search mechanism, just enter the word “insane.” One soldier after another after another after another said Israel used insane amounts of firepower. Insane amounts of firepower. There were no soldiers, no battles, but they’re using insane amounts of firepower. One soldier said—two soldiers, actually, talked about how the ground was trembling because of all the bombing and all of the missiles and all of the rockets.” Continue reading
