Waging an All-Out War on our Arctic Region?

Dear Kevin,

Help us protect the Arctic Refuge

Your $15 gift will help ensure the Porcupine caribou herd always has a place to birth their calves.

I wanted to make sure you saw this because it’s incredible, the sorts of elected politicians that we’re up against.

A few days ago, the mayor of Anchorageproposed “invading” the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Mayor Dan Sullivan, who is running for lieutenant governor, wanted to declare war on wild Alaska at a local chamber of commerce, saying, if I was governor today, I’d probably invade ANWR. But Sullivan isn’t expecting a bloodless battle. “What are they going to do, shoot you? Well, they might. But martyrdom goes a long way sometimes,” he added.

We know that all of you, our members, are ready to defend wild Alaska from the tag team of Big Oil and overzealous politicians. We know you want to fight for the 200,000-strong Porcupine caribou herd that depends on the Refuge this time of year to birth and nurture its young. If each of you donates just $15, we can keep up the fight for another year.

In this case, we think the best defense is a good offense. That’s why just this month we delivered thousands of signatures calling on President Obama to do everything he can to protect the Coastal Plain of the Refuge as soon as possible.

This fight won’t be easy and we need your help. Please donate today to help us protect the Refuge. Your $15 gift will help ensure the Porcupine caribou herd always has a place to birth their young.

Thank you,

Cindy

P.S. This fight has been a long one: twenty years and counting. Help us secure the funding necessary to fight back against threats to the Refuge and wild Alaska.
