My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
you, God, will not despise.
For we who have nothing left to give, may this season of lent give to us—may the sacrifices that we have sown in tears and frustrations be honored. May our losses and perseverance be reminders of God’s unending grace. May our spiritual practices fill our empty hands and wounded hearts. May all-consuming love overflow from our life—radiating within so that we might receive the strength to give again and again.
