Will Kansans do what has to be done, America?

Kansas has a unique opportunity to send shockwaves throughout the political establishment and turn subject lines into headlines with the first federal election since Donald Trump’s inauguration.

James Thompson is running in Kansas’s special election on April 11th to fill the 4th district’s congressional seat vacated by Donald Trump appointee Mike Pompeo. Republicans are trying to count James out, but we have a feeling there’s more support out there for this Kansas veteran than they think.

Our Revolution believes that revolutions begin locally — that’s why we’re endorsing James Thompson. James and his supporters are going door-to-door building on the momentum and support for a progressive agenda that drove record-breaking turnout in the caucuses last year. In a district that went 70% for Bernie Sanders, James is picking up more support by the day.

Please help Kansas show the rest of the nation that progressives can win. Pitch in a $5 donation, split between James’s campaign and Our Revolution, to help grow our people-powered revolution.

James has an agenda that empowers the local economy, strengthens the aviation industry and attracts diverse new businesses to the district. He understands that the ticket to escaping the poverty and homelessness that he endured as a child is a fully-funded public school system. And as an Army veteran and civil rights attorney in Wichita, James will defend fellow Kansas veterans and ensure they receive the full complement of benefits, services and essential health care that they earned in service to our country.

Let’s show the support our progressive values have all across Kansas. Put $5 towards powering the progressive revolution by splitting your contribution between James Thompson and Our Revolution.

Kansans deserve an independent voice representing us, and James Thompson is exactly the kind of candidate who will deliver on that promise.

In solidarity,

The Team at Our Revolution

    National Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare

    Dear Kevin,

    I am writing to ask you to urge your Representative TODAY to oppose the “American Health Care Act” (AHCA) which is to be considered by the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, March 23.

    The American Health Care Act, to repeal the Affordable Care Act, is harmful to seniors because it would:

    bulleted_list Weaken Medicare’s solvency — leaving it vulnerable to benefit cuts and privatization;
    bulleted_list Threaten access to long-term care benefits, and
    bulleted_list Impose an “age tax” on seniors 64 and younger — requiring them to pay more for less health care coverage.
    The AHCA helps those who need it the least — the wealthy — by providing them billions of dollars in tax loopholes while putting seniors and people with disabilities at significant risk of becoming uninsured or losing access to needed care.

    As I write this alert, the House Majority Leadership is scrambling to persuade at least 216 members of Congress to vote for this bill. They don’t yet have a lock on the votes needed to pass the AHCA. That means there is still time for you to help stop this harmful legislation.

    Pick up your phone right now and call the National Committee’s toll-free Legislative Hotline at (800) 998-0180. The Hotline will connect you directly to your Representative in his or her congressional office in Washington, D.C. Please tell your Congressperson to vote NO on the “American Health Care Act.”
