Jesus Wept

As he came near and saw the city, he wept over it,  saying, “If you, even you, had only recognized on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.” 

Luke 19:41-42

Christ sees the truth of the world around him and that visionary sight is painful: what we could be and what we fail to be, over and over. (We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.) In Lent, we make our home in the wilderness to examine the depth of our blindness.
