We are the women who work

Dear Kevin,

Today Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka is releasing her new book, called Women Who Work. In her short time as First Daughter, Ivanka has advocated for a childcare plan that benefits wealthy moms and neglects working class women. She’s consulted primarily with CEOs of huge corporations and Republican Congresswomen on the needs of working women.

Help us send a message that #WomenWhoWork is more than a catchy slogan! Working women in every industry face real challenges every day, and Ivanka should work to ease those burdens.

The potential for damage doesn’t stop in the US. According to the Washington Post, workers in China producing clothes for Ivanka’s fashion line earn only about a dollar an hour. For a US minimum wage worker to afford one of these $79 blouses, she’d have to spend more than 10 hours on the job.

Tell Ivanka: if she’s going to make money off the labor of working women, she can’t simultaneously work to pass policies that further disadvantage them.

As a working mom, I hope you’ll join me in taking action today. Here are some sample tweets to help inspire your creativity:

Dear @IvankaTrump, real progress for #WomenWhoWork doesn’t come in tax breaks for the rich.

@IvankaTrump – how are the #WomenWhoWork who make your clothing treated?

To our fellow #WomenWhoWork: share your story under this # because our stories and experiences matter.

Sincerely,
Liana Foxvog
