Is Jesus a unifier or divider?

I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.”

John 10:16

It’s hard not to feel discouraged when the unity Jesus speaks of seems so far from today’s reality. But maybe this is the already-but-not-yet of the Christian faith: even in a country as divided as the United States, Jesus is already the great unifier. Maybe it’s time the rest of us started to catch up as unifiers, too.
