It takes a lot for me to get to the point of desperation, to be humble, broken, and at the end of myself to be desperate enough to break rules and to be fearless

When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd, touched his cloak, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”

Mark 5:27,28

I am a fairly self-sufficient person. It takes a lot for me to get to the point of desperation, to be humble, broken, and at the end of myself to be desperate enough to break rules and to be fearless like the bleeding woman who had no other options. She had nothing to lose. It takes another look to recognize that we are all that woman. We have just fooled ourselves into believing our material possessions, power, relationships, or even health care (if we have it) will free us from our suffering so we don’t go to Jesus.
