HIAS just scored an important victory in our legal challenge to the refugee and Muslim ban. Today, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit issued a ruling against President Trump’s March 6 executive order banning the entry of people from six Muslim-majority countries for 90 days.
After hearing oral arguments in the case on May 8, the court just ruled 10-3 in our favor.
The judges ruled that the executive order, in context, “drips with religious intolerance, animus, and discrimination.” Click here to read our full statement responding to the ruling.
Kevin, the American Jewish community owes its very existence to America’s willingness to welcome refugees and immigrants of all faiths. Many of our own families arrived in America seeking freedom from religious persecution.
Today’s ruling only reaffirms our motivation to continue fighting for the values that truly make America great.
Thank you for standing with refugees during this critical time.
