BREAKING: Former FBI Director James Comey has confirmed that President Trump asked him to drop the investigation into the administration’s ties to Russia.
Comey made it clear in his two-and-a-half hour testimony today in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee that Trump fired him after he refused to drop the investigation into Michael Flynn and would not announce publicly that Trump himself was not a subject of the investigation.
More importantly, Comey confirmed that Russia is a serious threat to our democracy, and absolutely interfered in the 2016 election.
We need to maintain pressure on Congress to ensure that a full, independent investigation continues. Will you chip in to help WAND’s campaign?
After today, there can be no question that we need a full, independent investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia if we are to understand the extent to which Russia is affecting American policy – and their potential to impact future elections.
But Trump is still claiming that Russia has no influence over the White House. In fact, after Comey said that he was positive Russia affected the 2016 election, the White House Social Media Director tweeted:
“Sorry Dems – nothing here. No votes were altered by Russians in the 2016 election. POTUS or team NEVER asked to stop election investigation.”
Worse yet, Republican Senators bent over backwards today to try to frame Trump’s lies and efforts to derail the FBI’s investigation as reasonable actions.
We cannot trust that Congress will do the right thing on its own. We need to seize this moment, right now, to pressure Congress to step up and hold Trump accountable to the office of the presidency.
WAND is going to help drive phone calls and other effective resistance actions to keep up the pressure. Will you chip in to help our campaign?
Yes, I’ll chip in to WAND to help maintain the pressure to continue an investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia.
