From Liberation to Healing

From Liberation to Healing

 [He has sent me]…
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion.

Isaiah 61:2b

The trajectory of liberation in Isaiah 61 brings the oppressed into liberation and from liberation into healing. It is in these dark places of oppression that we find healing—healing from the bonds of unworthiness and the yoke of expectations, healed from the need to control and conquer, healed from unconscious reactions and wounds of (self) affliction. In our newfound liberation, our eyes are slowly exposed to God’s healing light where the stories of the oppressed become invitations for us to experience a greater sense of healing within ourselves.
