The GOP healthcare scam needs to be exposed for what it is

Call 20‌2-89‌9-88‌38 and urge your senator to let the public see the GOP healthcare scam for what it is.

Call 202-899-8838

The GOP is plotting to strip millions of Americans of their healthcare — and they are doing it in secret.

Behind closed doors, Republican senators are devising a plan to raise healthcare costs and gut protections for people with preexisting conditions. Just this week, the GOP tried to effectively bar press access in the U.S. Capitol, another shameless attempt to hide from the public.

Republicans are scared that you will find out the truth — they want to kick seniors and low-income Americans off of their health insurance and raise costs for millions of American families, just to give the wealthy a massive tax break.

Your senator is hiding from you. Dial 202-899-8838 and we will connect you directly with your senator’s staff working on GOP healthcare plan.

Suggested talking points:

  • Hello, my name is [Name] and my zip code is [#####].
  • I am calling to ask why Senate Republicans are refusing to hold hearings on their health care bill. Your plan will likely raise healthcare costs and kick millions of Americans off of their health coverage.
  • Why won’t you show the bill to the American people and the full body of the Senate?

Tell the Senate: Stop Hiding on Healthcare. Call: 202-899-8838Tell the Senate: Stop Hiding on Healthcare. Call: 202-899-8838

We’ve seen this before — House Republicans rushed their healthcare scam to a vote before we knew its true price tag. Now the Senate plans to vote on the bill without public hearings.

But we already know enough: millions will lose coverage and costs will soar. People with preexisting conditions could lose protections, and seniors and low-income Americans will be hit the hardest.

Ask your senator’s healthcare staff member: Why are senators so afraid to show the GOP healthcare plan to their constituents? Call 202-899-8838.

Thanks for speaking up,

    Dear Kevin,

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed – the top Democrat on Armed Services – have come out against Trump’s Saudi arms deal, HuffPost reports. [1] HuffPost adds:
“General Democratic unity against the sale now seems likely…The key for activists trying to pressure Saudi Arabia will now be convincing more red-state Democrats, like Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), and Iran hawk Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) to join the cause. They also hope to win over some Republicans who have been willing to take stances on human rights issues, like Sens. Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)”
This is a winnable fight. As I noted today at Truthout: [2]
Last September four Senate Republicans joined 23 Senate Democrats to vote against Obama’s Saudi tank deal. Three of those four Republicans are still in the Senate: Rand Paul, Mike Lee and Dean Heller. There are now 48 Senate Democrats. Forty-eight plus three equals 51. If we can get all or almost all Senate Democrats to vote against Trump’s Saudi arms deal plus a handful of Republicans, we can win.
There’s still time to call your Senators. Call now at 1-855-68-NO-WAR (1-855-686-6927.) When you reach a staffer or leave a message, you can say something like:
“I urge you to vote against Trump’s Saudi arms deal and make a statement that you will do so.”
[Senators who have already publicly committed to voting against Trump’s Saudi arms deal: Paul, Murphy, Franken, Merkley, Cardin, Schumer, and Reed.]

When you’ve made your calls, please report them here.

Thanks for all you do to help make U.S. foreign policy more just,
