Open yourself to God in prayer, and let the seed of the Spirit grow its beautiful fruit, uniquely your own.

By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things.

 Galatians 5:22-23

I garden. I plant fruit trees—which take years to fruit–and radishes, ready in three weeks. Most fruits take many sun-kissed days and lots of water to grow into their richest selves. The Spirit seeds itself in us with our youngest declaration of faith, and it grows. Quietly but resiliently, like a tomato or apple or peach. Open yourself to God in prayer, and let the seed of the Spirit grow its beautiful fruit, uniquely your own.
