Our National Monuments Are Under Threat

Dear Kevin,

President Trump and his hitman, Interior Secretary Zinke, are considering stripping protections from 21 national monuments and gift wrapping another giveaway to the fossil fuel industry. The sheer size and scope of this scheme is an insult to the American people.

National monuments like Bears Ears, Giant Sequoia, Grand Canyon-Parashant, and Mojave Trails belong to all of us. Desert peaks, ancient trees, and sacred lands, all told more than 11 million acres, are at risk.

The reason for ripping away our right to experience these natural spaces? So Trump can hand them over to climate crisis denying oil and gas companies on a gold platter.

Join your voice with ours as we draw a line in the sand. Your gift of $5, $50, or $100 will help WildEarth Guardians defend the right to keep public lands in public hands.

The Bears Ears National Monument is the industry’s primary target. Even though nine out of 10 people who submitted comments during Zinke’s previous national monument review supported preserving Bears Ears as it is, Zinke recommended reducing its size.

Trump and Zinke only see dollar signs, not the will of the American people. They are blatantly rejecting the cries from the public. All or parts of each and every one of these 21 national monuments are at risk so rich fossil fuel titans can pad their bottom lines.

National monuments bring people together to experience our natural world and protect native wildlife and plants. Now we need all of you to come together to prevent our shared heritage and wildlife safe havens from being pillaged.

Join Guardians today and show Trump and Zinke that public lands belong to all of us.
