“Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables.”
One highlight of our camp week is “pontoon campfire”. Campers and staff pile into a pontoon, drift onto the lake, light candles, sing songs and tell stories. The experience is different than on land, around a blazing fire. The songs carry across the water, and the stories have a different impact. While we float, I imagine Jesus on the boat, with his voice carrying across the water. It just takes a different environment to make a story mean something different.
