Thank you! You and nearly 17,000 others signed the petition urging Rep. Chris Stewart to stop promoting climate change denial as the chair of the House Science Subcommittee on Environment. Last Tuesday, we delivered your petition signatures to Rep. Stewart at a town hall meeting in his district. 

Concerned Utahn, former teacher, and Forecast the Facts member Ryan Pleune helped organize the event. Ryan stood before his fellow constituents and handed over a giant stack of petition signatures to Rep. Stewart, giving the congressman an opportunity to retract his previous statements. But Rep. Stewart doubled down on his climate change denial, saying:

“If you think that the science on climate change is settled, you’re simply overstating the facts.” 

Rep. Stewart insisted that his denial of established science is “moderate.” But with the clock ticking on global warming and Utah already feeling the impacts, it’s critical that congressional leaders like Stewart are seen for what they are: extremists who are out of touch with the majority of the country.
